Cops are not innocent and you know it.
"Back the Blue" people have a hunch that they support something immoral
Today, June 29, 2025, a mass shooting over by Coeur d’Alene, Idaho that resulted in multiple cops and firefighters getting ambushed while responding to a deliberate grass fire by a suspected arsonist. The initial police scanner audio says such and a responder even says that everyone has been shot. As of the point of this writing, that’s about all the information that has come out on this event. But this post isn’t about the event itself but of the Twitter comments that I happen to notice where many blue checkmarks (if that means anything) seem bewildered that the suspect(s) would shoot firefighters, implying that they would understand why someone would shoot cops.
I must stop here for a second to say that this post is not here on some ACAB or “Cops=bad” shit and one should automatically treat them with hostility. I am a proponent of not being an idiot with dealing with them. I’m a proponent of not being an idiot in general but we’re humans. Being an idiot is what we do best. Continuing…
Given that Twitter has been made the Sun Tzu exit corridor of free speech on the internet that has been surrounded by the left in regard to expressing ideas, Twitter has been dominated by rightist talking points by Trump supporters who are generally pro-cop. You won’t find very much leftist pro-tranny propaganda on the new Twitter, and honestly, for me, it’s a breath of fresh air as it’s intended to be. From that one can deduct the general rightist sentiment in the ether.
It has always struck me as odd during the Biden years how pro-Trump/cop people were targeted by law enforcement across the board. From the local PD to the FBI. Burning an American flag, nothing. That’s A-okay. Burn the gay flag, jail! And that’s just one example. I am not going to list the many examples of the strait-up lopsided enforcement of laws that are enforced by cops. So when I was scrolling through the comments of this incident in Idaho I immediately thought “I knew it! I knew there was a dormant discontention with the cops from non-leftists!”
Someone has to say it. Cops “just doing their jobs” by throwing people into the powerful and resourceful correction system on the planet (other than maybe China) is contrary to the “freedom” rightists so gleefully identify with. A persons ABV for driving keeps getting lower and lower, the arrests based on allegations, the non-moving traffic laws like keeping tabs up to date and making sure drivers have private insurance for their car is all in a day’s work for the cop. If not, you get in trouble. The databases the citizens names go through when being detained too. These are all things rightists hate. We are slowly acknowledging that we are currently in the police state and this police state is not aimed at, say, the Los Angeles rioters, it’s aimed at everyday people that are programmed to go about the normie life cycle of a good citizen.
Where would we be without cops? That there is what we call a power vacuum. Some other entity would take it’s place to enforce their laws. In the US, we do have a decent amount of freedom until every little thing about everybody is in a database that is accessible to any law enforcement. The key to keeping public support for cops is to breed bad guys. And these bad guys will always be there. Sure, they’ll get arrested too but there will always be more on the way.
